Area of outcrop set on private land situated in the Fowberry Moor region, near Wooler, Northumberland. Found by Stan Beckensall and students from the University of Newcastle during an excavation in 1973, this carved outcrop was one of several previously unknown petroglyphs discovered. In addition to other carved sections of outcrop, the dig uncovered a double arc of cobbles placed on top of bedrock, some of which were also carved. Motifs include cups, cups with arcs, penannulars, grooves, multi rings, and linear grooves. Referenced as 'Fowberry Excavation Site 6' on the Beckensall Archive (BA), it was added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008. ERA record, including BA material: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=178 Model created in September 2019 from 7 stereo pairs captured by Joe Gibson during NADRAP recording in January 2007. A calibrated 5mp Nikon Coolpix 5400 was used to capture the imagery, which forms part of the NADRAP / ERA archive.
