sketchfab

Area of carved outcrop located on Fowberry Moor/Newtown Moor near Wooler, Northumberland discovered recently. This section of exposed rock features intricate designs including cups, rings, partial rings, penannulars, grooves and a rare grid pattern. While some carvings are severely worn down, others remain remarkably well-preserved and clearly show tool marks. This could indicate different periods of carving or exposure to the elements. Signs of plough damage can be seen on the stone surface. Documented in the Beckensall Archive (BA) and NADRAP as 'Fowberry Enclosure 1', it was added to ERA in 2008. ERA record with BA information available at https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=206. Three-dimensional model created from six stereo pairs captured by Kevin Malloy in April 2007. The images are part of the NADRAP / ERA archive.
