Four à pipes Henderson
sketchfab
The Henderson Pipe Factory, established in 1847 by William Henderson Sr., and later taken over by the founder's grandsons, brothers Dixon, in 1876, suggests that this furnace dates back possibly from 1847 to 1892. It remains possible that this furnace was rebuilt along the way, as such a structure required regular maintenance and repairs. This plot has been occupied by Hendersons and Dixons since 1847, as confirmed by old maps. One of them even illustrates the location of the furnace in the rear courtyard. In addition, we find the mention "Henderson / Montreal" on most pipes discovered around the furnace as well as on the lot found directly west (near Saint Catherine Street) in 2005.
