thingiverse
Four Fit, a tray-packing puzzle by Stewart Coffin Fit all four pieces into the rectangular opening. This is a classic packing puzzle that seems impossible at first but isn't. If it seems like the pieces won't fit the way you expect or the tray size is just off, don't worry! There's nothing wrong with the model or your printer. Keep trying. This puzzle is one of a series of tray-packing puzzles created by Coffin, who regards it as one of his best. Martin Gardner, a renowned popularizer of mathematics, remarked in a letter to Coffin: "It's the finest dissection puzzle of all time. It looks easy but is fiendishly difficult. I wasted a week trying vainly to solve it." Gardner's frustrations with this puzzle earned it the nickname "Martin's Menace." There are three STL files: the pieces, the tray, and an optional lid. The tray includes extra space for one of the pieces, making it easy to store while the puzzle is unsolved. It's modeled using PuzzleCAD, and the .scad file has been included in case you want to remix it. You'll need PuzzleCAD version 1.2 or later. About the Designer Stewart Coffin is a renowned designer of interlocking mechanical puzzles who has produced a wide range of ingenious designs of various shapes and complexity.
