Four Classical Columns

The five "Orders" displayed here are: DORIC - the most basic of the Greek orders. TUSCAN - a Roman interpretation of Doric. IONIC - featuring large 'volutes' (scrolls) on the capital. CORINTHIAN - boasting the most intricate capital with curving acanthus leaves. Each column is crafted with precise 'entasis', (the gentle convex curve along the shaft,) and the name of each order is embossed into the base of each pillar. The DORIC column stands 14cm. tall and is printed in a single, upside-down piece, taking 2 hours and 4 minutes to complete. The TUSCAN column measures 14cm. in height. The shaft and capital are printed separately. Printing times are: Shaft - 1 hour and 47 minutes. Capital - 16 minutes. The IONIC column reaches a height of 14.3cm. The shaft and capital are printed independently, with the capital split into two halves on either side. Printing times are: Shaft - 2 hours. Capital (two halves printed simultaneously) - 30 minutes. The CORINTHIAN column stands at an impressive 14.8cm. tall. The shaft and capital are printed separately, with the capital divided into two halves on its sides. Printing times are: Shaft - 2 hours and 2 minutes. Capital (two halves printed simultaneously) - 31 minutes. Shafts, aside from the Doric which is printed in one piece with the capital, feature a peg at the top that fits neatly into a slot in the capital. Capitals and shafts can then be securely attached with a few drops of superglue. (I utilize LePage's 'Gel Control' adhesive.) The times listed are those recorded by my Makerbot (Fifth Generation) printer. To view more of my designs, visit https://www.thingiverse.com/Winslow/designs
