"Fountain Motif" is a replica of the statue of Arthur Dupon that stands in the open-air Middelheim Museum in Antwerp. A young boy stretches out his right hand and fingers, as if reaching for the surrounding water curtain. The head, moving upward, follows the flowing water feature, crafted from metal-bronze, measuring 97 cm tall, created in 1930. The replica was gifted to Alain Speeckaert upon his retirement as chairman of the Belgian health insurance company Factory. Arthur Dupon was a renowned Belgian visual artist born in 1890. Several of his works have been sold at auction, showcasing his artistic skill. Dupon passed away in 1972. The Middelheim Museum is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts in Antwerp. This unique open-air museum boasts an exceptional setting that offers a captivating overview of over one hundred years of visual arts. The Middelheim Museum collection comprises approximately 400 works of art, meticulously gathered over more than 50 years. The pieces date from around 1900 to the present day, providing an excellent representation of international modern and contemporary art. Each year sees new additions to the collection. Around 215 sculptures are strategically placed throughout the park, featuring renowned artists such as Auguste Rodin, Rik Wouters, Henry Moore, Juan Muñoz, Carl Andre, Panamarenko, Franz West, Erwin Wurm, and many others.
