Human: 1.75mm dual Nema 17 extruder design inspired by Elliot Foster's creative work. The primary goal was to spark curiosity, which ultimately led to a few weeks of successful usage with various filaments (PLA, ABS, PC, NinjaFlex, TPU, Nylon). A crucial component is the block with two adjustable hinges and tensioning screws that can be set to control the gap between drive gears. Motors were initially connected in series with 24V, 1.3A supply. Important factors to consider when choosing a connection method include series or parallel setups, as each has unique requirements. I used a series setup but it is uncertain whether motors in series will work effectively with a 12V power source. It may be necessary to use high-current stepper drivers for sufficient torque if connecting motors in parallel. Parts: - Two Nema17 motors with a max shaft diameter of 22mm - E3D hobgoblin drive gears, two units needed - A 1/8" threaded bowden coupling - M3 threaded inserts (two required) - Two M3 x 25mm screws for tightening - Eight M3 x 10mm screws for assembly and adjustments - An optional series motor connector available from Peter Stoneham Print Settings: Eustathios is the printer used. Rafts are unnecessary. Supports do not impact functionality. Important Notes: This design can be printed with or without supports, but some adjustments need to be made. Drill through the diaphragms in the filament path using a 2mm drill bit to ensure smooth movement. Assembly Steps: - Remove any diaphragms from the filament path - Install M3 threaded inserts for stability - Use 20mm screws to adjust tension; alternative options like longer screws and springs may also work - Install Hobgoblin drive gears on the motors without tightening them. Set screw length might need trimming if they stick out too much - Align motors with extruder block, keeping set screws accessible through the hinge gaps - Tighten set screws, aligning with the center of each gap - Attach a threaded bowden coupling to complete assembly - Connect the motors according to preference; in this case, series connection is used - Check extrusion direction and alignment before proceeding with testing
