The object simply remains unchanged, but viewed at an angle of 90 degrees minus 12.556, giving the illusion that this is indeed the optimal amount - rest assured, no trial and error was involved in determining this number. To accommodate slic3r's limitation of only rotating by integer amounts, making this flat becomes a crucial step for many slicers.
