Fossil of Cetacean Juvenile Caudal Vertebrae
thingiverse
This is a caudal vertebrae or tail bone from an ancient whale-like creature. The animal was still in its youth because the growth plate where bones join together is not visible yet. Fossils of this age are typically between 5-7 million years old. Gavriliuc Emanuel, a skilled Radiology Imaging Specialist at Spitalul Hospital in Botosani, Romania, discovered it along the banks of the Siret river in Botosani county. Thanks to Gavriliuc Emanuel (Thingiverse ID emi83ro) for providing the CT scan. The fossil is roughly 2.5 cm long and would look best printed at a resolution of 400% or using an SLA printer. If you decide to print it, please share a photo so everyone can see how it turns out.
