Fossil Hill
sketchfab
This is a 3D reconstruction of the seafloor at Fossil Hill in Santa Monica Basin off Southern California's coast. Approximately 330 square meters of seafloor are captured in this image. A closer examination reveals layered deposits of fossilized serpulid worm tubes, fossil clamshells, and thriving clams. The rugged terrain is formed by exposed outcroppings of carbonate rock and fossils. Visible inhabitants include live sea stars and thornyhead rockfish (Sebastolobus sp.).
