I recently swapped out the engine mounts on my smart for some sturdier ones after just two years of heavy use. The original mounts were starting to show signs of wear and tear, so I figured it was time to give them a boost. To ensure that the new mounts would hold up under the weight of the engine, I designed a custom insert to support them. This insert is specifically engineered to prevent the mounts from collapsing, which would cause problems with vibration and performance. So far, after six months of use, the inserts are holding up like a charm. There's only a slight increase in vibration when accelerating hard between 3-4k rpm, but it's not noticeable enough to be a concern. The exhaust system remains securely in place, which is exactly what I was hoping for.
