Fort Lytton National Park stands proudly on Australia's eastern coast, where the Brisbane River flows into the sea. Constructed between 1880 and 1882, this historic park safeguards the remnants of Queensland's oldest colonial fortress. The fort held sway over river access to Brisbane, a city located 15km upstream, thereby securing its strategic advantage. This monumental structure was the colony's strongest response to the need for self-defence following Britain's withdrawal of troops in 1869. A remarkable 3D model, crafted by Jonus Darr from the University of Queensland, brings the fort's 1938 state to life with meticulous detail. Prior to the construction of gunpit 7 during World War II, this digital reconstruction was achieved through a collaborative effort between CSIRO, the University of Queensland, the Queensland Government's Department of Environment and Heritage Protection, and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
