Formula Student Front Suspension
grabcad
In my personal FSAE project, the front suspension features Ohlins TTX25 shocks actuated by pushrods. Enhancing durability are encapsulated spherical bearings on the wishbones, eliminating bending-related issues with rod ends. Navigation is facilitated through a 442mm FSAE zRack steering rack from ZF. Willwood Dynapro calipers provide reliable braking, while 13-inch rims are shod with slicks (discreetly concealed). The setup offers 5.6 degrees of camber at 1 inch of vertical travel and boasts 71% Ackerman steering precision, with a hub-to-hub distance of 1300mm. Structural components, including uprights, bellcrank, and shock mounts, are crafted from strong 6061 aluminum alloy, while spindles and hubs are forged from robust 4340 steel.
