Human: To avoid damaging pistons by pushing them out with the wheel during transport or washing. Tested on K24 calipers, however the same pad shape is used for all Oro series models. Uploaded a second iteration of the design with improved clearance around the pad spring, which was also proven to work in the first iteration shown in the photo. I designed this brake pad specifically for my relative's bike, which I've been maintaining annually. Unfortunately, it's no longer available for testing new designs. The source FreeCAD file is included below. My custom-designed brake pad is compatible with Shimano Deore (M596...). Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer Model: Prusa i3 original kit Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 mm layer thickness Infill Percentage: 15-20% Notes: Printed from PLA, the pad is 1.7 mm thick. Printing with a 0.2 mm layer thickness will result in tighter pads but they should still work. How I Designed This: I used a scanned brake pad shape for my design.
