Formula 550 (Stretched Quad)
thingiverse
This quadcopter design features wide arms for gimbal and camera mounting. The X layout ensures stability, while a diagonal motor-to-motor size of 560mm increases wind resistance. A sleek top ensures fast forward flight, and a gimbal mount fits between the front arms without causing jello effect. The chassis can accommodate a 20C 4S 5000mAh battery for extended flight times, with space available for FPV video transmitter and telemetry radio placement. A video of the quad in action is provided (http://youtu.be/gogIP8V3nAY). Two chassis designs cater to M3 or M2.5 arm holes, and a flight controller mount with anti-vibration features is included. The body attaches to the chassis via velcro blocks and prints cleanly without rafts or supports, though some internal strands may need trimming. Landing legs fit snugly between arm pillars, with pinch bolts recommended for added security. A gimbal controller board case is also provided. The creator encourages posting pictures of completed builds and voting for the design on 3dprintboard (http://3dprintboard.com/showthread.php?2212-Thingiverse-Contest-3-11-17-Voting-Underway-til-March-24-(Prizes-for-Votes!)/page22, #213).
