I created this black bear inspired by a tragic real-life event in Taiwan. Taipei Zoo had a female Formosan black bear named "mini three" who lost her right front leg after being caught in a trap and was left with only three legs, earning the name "mini three." After lending this bear to Kaohsiung's Shoushan Zoo, it suffered a horrific death at the jaws of another bear in December 2013. The zoo kept this tragic news under wraps for an entire month before releasing the information. This heart-wrenching story left me deeply saddened, prompting me to design this black bear as a tribute to that unfortunate incident.
