Formin Homology Domain
thingiverse
Formins regulate actin filament formation by remaining attached to the growing end and stepping along as new monomers are added. They protect this end from capping protein. The FH2 domain of bni1p, a yeast formin (structure 1y64 in PDB), exemplifies this process. In its structure, each monomer forms a dimer via a "lasso" domain and the full FH2 domain is more accurate when printed twice with a string representing the flexible linker. Photos are available for guidance; one monomer has its own lasso on a stick (the linker), while another has the other monomer's lasso wrapped around its post domain without the linker, allowing gluing of rope or similar to represent it.
