Replace the shattered remnants of your footwear with brand new ones. Take a Dremel tool, preferably one that's still in great working order, and carefully use it to sand down the mangled remains of the old footrest until it's perfectly flush with the surrounding surface. Once you've achieved this smooth finish, apply a generous amount of super glue directly onto the newly sanded area, making sure to cover every inch of the surface before holding your breath in anticipation of a strong bond forming.
