Fork / Spoon Handle
youmagine
My wife occasionally encounters joint issues, which render even the simplest tasks difficult. When her joints ache and swell, she struggles to grasp a fork with her hand. There are specialized "orthopedic" forks available, featuring thicker handles, but they often come with a hefty price tag or unappealing design. We sought a solution that would benefit everyone by creating a 3D-printable handle for widely used IKEA forks. This is the outcome of our efforts. I designed the fork in OpenSCAD to allow customization of parameters for individuals who require thicker handles or prefer different forks. The source code can be accessed on Github (https://github.com/coredump-ch/3d-designs/tree/master/fork_handle), licensed under CC BY-SA, enabling others to build upon this design and contribute to its development.
