Fork protector for Honda VFR800 RC79 (2014-)
thingiverse
The Honda VFR800 RC79 (gen.8 2014-) motorcycle has very exposed fork legs, but you can easily add a protector to each leg to prevent oncoming debris from damaging them. I opted to make my own pair instead of buying one, and it was a great decision. Simply print two protectors, slide them past the upper fork leg, and push them down carefully to fit as shown in the attached photo. Attach a zip-tie in the groove to keep them in place. This protector might also work on other bikes with an outer diameter of 60mm for the outer part of the fork leg. Here are my print settings: Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 100% Notes: I printed these protectors in PETG and used a brim as bottom support. I adjusted the following settings in Cura to get perfect results. The bottom part came out perfectly, but the thin upper half was a little stringy. However, it's still good enough for me, and maybe even better if you slow down your print speed further. Nozzle temperature: 240°C Bottom temperature: 60°C Speed settings (mm/s): Travel speed: 80 Bottom speed: 20 Infill speed: 30 Top/bottom speed: 15 Outer shell speed: 15 Inner shell speed: 20 Layer wait time: 10 seconds Cooling fan: off
