A massive landslide towers above 1000 feet in the Oregon Coast Range. The devastating event was triggered by clearcutting on steep slopes and the construction of roads, which unleashed a torrent of sediments into the West Fork of the North Fork of the Wilson River. This catastrophe has had a profound impact on the coastal habitat of the Coho salmon, an endangered species listed under the Endangered Species Act.
