Foredome Brim Trimmer

Foredome Brim Trimmer

I made this simple trimmer that slides onto a Foredome handpiece with a twist locking ring. This is just an experiment with making Foredome tooling. I use this as a flush router for trimming the slight burr left on the bottom of 3D prints that have a brim. I modeled in the supports for the pin, so the burr itself cuts out the supports so you have a clean fit. I've been working on a 45 deg champfer one as well but that one needs some more revisions. The twist lock ring just presses into place, and an internal 3D printed spring keeps it on the end. Be warned it's easy to push that thing on 180 deg out of position and then it won't actually lock/unlock in a positive way. You can pop it back off though and turn it around. I may make the 90 deg rotation lock have a bit more engagement because right now you can easily over drive it, but this worked first try so I haven't messed with it. I printed this in PLA using the default optimal Prusa slicer settings + a brim for the hand piece. I printed the handpiece in grey and the twist ring in black. You need a carbide burr of the correct size for this. I think it's just the standard 7mm cylindrical one I got in some cheap set of burrs.
