I designed this tool specifically for rewinding the brake piston in the rear brake of my Ford Mondeo, where a critical screw operates the hand brake. This screw must be rewound and pressed in simultaneously when replacing brake pads. This handy tool makes a huge difference. Simply insert a 12mm hex wrench into the threaded large screw. There is enough space for one that fits perfectly with a 1/2"-sized wrench, so use one made of steel. Alternatively, you can print your own and hope it's strong enough. Position the tool carefully, ensuring the 12mm hex is seated properly in the piston, then hand-tighten it. Next, turn the wrench, keeping the printed tool steady to prevent the nut from rotating. As the nut tightens, it will begin pushing the piston inwards while turning it at the same time. Keep turning the piston with the wrench and observe as everything functions correctly. When you're finished, loosen the nut using the printed tool, allowing it to fall to the floor. At this point, do not turn the wrench backward, as the tool may lock incredibly tight. To assemble the other side, you'll need a left-handed thread version of the tool. Simply use your slicer program's mirror function to reverse the design, and if necessary, adjust the thread diameter using the scaling feature. Feel free to adapt this design for your own car model by creating a similar tool. Here are my print settings: I used a 3D printer with normal PLA filament at 95% fill, ten degrees warmer than usual, resulting in strong parts that held up remarkably well despite showing signs of rust and dirt. To replicate these results, I recommend using your typical settings for printing strong parts; you don't need to overdo it on super-strong parts. Each part can be oriented to print without support.
