I designed a temporary fuel tank door for my car until I get a replacement, but I'm concerned about how well PLA will hold up in Israel's intense sunlight and heat. To ensure that the snap hooks are strong enough and don't break apart when mounting them on the car, I printed the model upright so the force isn't directed along the layer or printing bed.
