Ford C-Max MK2 Smartphone mount (landscape)
thingiverse
This assembly provides a smartphone mount for the center dashboard/console. Two clips are placed between the top and bottom vents on each side and are bridged using an aluminum bar. On this bar the smartphone mount is screwed down. The clips were designed using a 3D photo scan of the cars center console. The Clips have two hooks each. The bigger hook goes behind the bottom edge of the upper vent. The smaller hook is slit between the lower vent fins and clicks into place. To remove the clip, raise the smaller hook up using a screw driver and pull the clip out of the lower vent. The holes in the clips are designed with M3 threads in them. They most likely will not be reproduced accurately by a FDM printer, but an M3 screw can still be threaded in with reasonable torque. Otherwise just re-cut the threads. The dimensions for the aluminum bar can be taken from the attached *.step-file, which contains the whole assembly. Feel free to modify the design to suit your phone. As the interior of the car gets fairly warm during summer, PLA must not be used for the prints. I tested the parts in ABS and they held up perfectly during the last 5 years. PETG may also work, but this was not tested. Print the clips solid with 100% infill and the smartphone holder with 20-40% infill. No supports needed.
