Forbidden Planet's C-57D Ver.2 1/350th
thingiverse
This is an enhanced model of the flying saucer C-57D from the classic film Forbidden Planet. It's often claimed that Science Fiction movies launched from "B" reels into mainstream blockbusters, inspiring other classics such as Star Trek and Star Wars. For this version, I've re-scaled it to about 1/350th scale (approximately 147mm across), added more detail like the landing leg doors, an optional landing stalk and stairs, and created both a stand and a diorama for landing. There have been issues with shrinkage and warping of parts in the old version, so I've shrunk everything to fit the main hull into one piece that can be printed in a 6x6x6 printer. The ship is now split into three parts, resulting in a longer print and more support material. However, it should come out much better. I created a display stand with the C57-D's logo that works well and also made a moonscape diorama with the landing stalk and stairs built-in, allowing you to simply set the ship on top of the stalk for display. The stairs and landing stalk are separate in case you want to do something custom. *Update: I've added a part that can be printed three times to make the main hull, which seems to print better and faster.
