###Orienteering Control Post Tops suitable for use with 1/2" diameter posts### Most of my designs for Control Post Tops have been designed to fit the standard 10mm x 8mm fibreglass electric fence posts available in the UK and Europe. I've become aware that in some parts of the world, a 1/2" (half inch) post is common. I've therefore designed these items to suit this larger size of post. __1.__ This item is designed to enable a __SPORTident__ (Si) “__Narrow Plastic Mounting for BSF7 Station__” control box mounting plate to be mounted onto a 1/2" (half inch, 12.7mm) diameter post, suitably cut to length. This item is a variant of my https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5436331. The top needs to be glued to the post, suitably cut to length if necessary. The small hole above the larger hole for the post allows excess glue to escape and to allow confirmation that the post is fully seated. The __SPORTident__ (Si) “__Narrow Plastic Mounting for BSF7 Station__” control box mounting plates have no mounting holes, so will need to be suitably drilled for two off M4 countersink screws at a pitch of 32mm, with stainless steel fasteners being recommended to minimise the risk of corrosion. Two socket head countersink screws, M4 x 16mm long, should be used, together with the larger diameter (Form G) washers and M4 Nyloc nuts, to secure the __SPORTident__ mounting plate to this item. The next two items have been designed to enable a __SPORTident__ (Si) “__Plastic Holder for BSF7 Station__” or a “__Plastic Holder for BSF9 & 8 Station (Standard)__” control box mounting plate to be mounted onto a 1/2" (half inch, 12.7mm) diameter post, suitably cut to length. The larger diameter post is too large to sit between the mounting holes on the two __SPORTident__ control box mounting plates, which are set at a distance of 20mm. Therefore, the post has had to be offset in some way. __2.__ In this design, the socket for the post has been offset transversely with relation to the __SPORTident__ control box mounting plate. __3.__ In this design, the socket for the post has been offset longitudinally with relation to the __SPORTident__ control box mounting plate. Both of these items should be be firmly glued to the top of the 1/2" (half inch, 12.7mm) diameter post, which will need to be cut to a suitable length. The __SPORTident__ (Si) “__Plastic Holder for BSF7 Station__” and “__Plastic Holder for BSF9 & 8 Station (Standard)__” control box mounting plates have holes provided for M4 screws, with stainless steel fasteners being recommended to minimise the risk of corrosion. Two button head socket screws, M4 x 20mm long, should be used, together with standard (Form A) washers and M4 Nyloc nuts, to secure the __SPORTident__ mounting plate to either of these items. It is probable that, dependent on your country, different post sizes will be more readily available. I've definitely seen posts in a number of different sizes including round posts of 3/8" (9.5 mm), 10mm, 12mm, 1/2" (12.7mm), and 13mm diameter.
