Football Trophy Coaster Holder and Starter Coaster Set
thingiverse
This is a cool little coaster holder, disguised as a scaled-down trophy I discovered on a Google Image search. It holds four coasters comfortably, allowing for a fingertip to reach in for the top coaster without tipping the base. The base was made in two parts to eliminate the need for supports in the 'coaster bay'. This design also saves 45 to 65 grams of plastic that can be used for something else. Painting is not necessary, but as you can see, it's doable. I use Craft Smart and Sharpie oil-based paint pens, which work well for detail painting, like the coasters, but they perform poorly on large areas. For larger surfaces, I used Rustoleum 2+1 spray paint specifically designed for plastic, which includes a primer with the paint. A word of caution: this paint is humidity-sensitive and can be tacky to the touch for up to 21 days after the last coat of paint. However, if the humidity is under 50%, you can handle the part within a half-day after applying your last coat of paint. Sanding can be done, but I recommend having at least four to six outer walls for better results. This means newbies won't see any infill impressions on the skin of their model. I included four starter coasters that I thought would look good with white PLA. I'll add more coasters when time permits.
