American football is a sport played by two teams, each consisting of eleven players. The objective is to score points by carrying or throwing the ball into the end zone of the opponent's field. The game is divided into four quarters, each lasting fifteen minutes. Points can be scored in several ways: by carrying or catching the ball into the end zone (a touchdown), kicking the ball through the opponent's goalposts (a field goal), or tackling an opponent in their own end zone (a safety). Players wear protective gear including helmets, shoulder pads, and knee pads to prevent injury. The quarterback is usually the player who throws the ball, while the running back carries the ball on running plays. The team with possession of the ball is called the offense, and they try to advance the ball down the field by running or passing it to their teammates. The opposing team, known as the defense, tries to stop them by tackling the ball carrier or intercepting passes. American football is a physically demanding sport that requires strength, speed, and agility. Players must be in top physical condition to perform at their best.
