Foot for 3030 extrusion. Vibration dampening.
thingiverse
These feet attached to the 3030 aluminium extrusion at the base of my Wombot printer are a must-have feature. Important - They must be printed in a flexible filament, such as TPE, TPU or Ninjaflex, to ensure effective dampening and ease of installation. They need to be flexible first and foremost to open up and clip around the extrusion securely, and also for reliable dampening. Using PLA or ABS would be a poor choice for this application. The design clips neatly into the slots, preventing it from falling out when the printer is lifted up. I printed at 15% infill with TPU filament, which gave me the perfect balance of elasticity and durability. Update: A simpler version was uploaded on February 1st, featuring the 3030_extrusion_foot_v3 design. Since it's made from a flexible filament, I removed the side piece and created an interference fit at the bottom. Print Settings: Printer: Wombot Exilis Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 15% Notes: A 15% infill with TPU is recommended; other materials may require different settings.
