Foot-Activated Door Knocker
prusaprinters

Doorbells and doors can be a vector for transmission as many people, such as people who deliver mail, touch them. I made a foot-activated door-knocker so mail-people can knock on your door without touching the doorbell or door. It's made of a simple foot pedal that triggers a knocker that hits the door when the pedal is pushed. Not included in these renders is the spring that would keep the pedal up. (That's what the circular indent in the bottom plate is for.) As I do not have access to a printer at home (the one I used previously belonged to my school and was on campus) I have not been able to print this, so this is still in its first stage of development, as I have not been able to test it out yet.

I don't have a printer yet, but I am getting one soon. Since I am getting a printer soon, if I win the competition please give the printer to someone who doesn't already have one - I'd be happy with some filament that I could use.

Print instructions

I have never printed this, as I do not currently have access to a 3D printer due to the coronavirus pandemic. For that reason, please be careful when using the included
GCODE
files, as they have not been tested. You can also slice the included
3MF
s using PrusaSlicer or other preferred software for your printer.

There are 3 separate files for each independent part of the mechanism. For a fully functional foot-activated door knocker, please print all of them.

All included
GCODE
files use 30% infill.
