Font of the Sienna Baptistery

The baptismal font crafted by Jacopo della Quercia showcases a collaboration between some of the most celebrated sculptors from the 1400s. A Gothic polygonal base gives rise to a stunning Renaissance structure. Perched atop the original sculpture, now absent from this replica, is a majestic statue of St John, skillfully carved by Quercia himself. Meanwhile, the intricate bronze reliefs and statues in the niches were brought to life by the masterful hands of Quercia, Donatello, and Ghiberti.
