To avoid getting poked in the fingers, note that the holes in the handle holder disc are 12mm in diameter and the clip for the shaft keeper inside the cap is approximately 3mm in diameter. To use, insert the forks into the handle holder first, then gather the forked ends together to fit them securely inside the cap. Next, snap one of the shafts into the clip to lock the cap firmly in place.
