Folgertech FT5 Extruder Mount
thingiverse
This is an extruder mount upgrade for the Folgertech FT5, specifically designed to accommodate motor connector pass-throughs for seamless extruder removal without disassembling the mount. The wire drag chain has been relocated to the left to avoid interference with bearing mount screws. An integrated belt clamp was added and strategically positioned to align perfectly with the drive pulley, eliminating the need for wire ties altogether. To enhance rigidity, a lower set of extruder motor mounting holes were incorporated, secured by 4 screws. The top and bottom plate through holes were replaced with alignment blades and through holes, resulting in a lower overall profile that provides better support when tightening clamping screws. This design offers more clearance to the print bed, allowing for ample space to install the part cooling duct I'm planning to add next. One version features screw pockets for extruder motor mounting screws, while the other requires longer screws. To minimize weight and reduce print material, parts are recessed on the inside and bottom. Print Settings: Printer Brand: Robo 3D Printer Model: R1 ABS + PLA Model Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3mm layers, 0.6mm nozzle Infill: 100% Notes: After printing, inspect the belt attachment clamps for proper bridging. If a sagging ceiling in the bridged area causes issues with the belt fit, adjust your bridge settings and reprint or remove the obstructions. How I Designed This: I designed this extruder mount using Rhino3D software, which has proven to be an exceptional tool for various design projects due to its capabilities. While it may be pricey for some users, I've found Rhino3D to be well worth the investment for my design work.
