Update 11/13/2016 - Topless versions require a new female base, so I've added both male and female bases to the design. I've also installed the open-face chain and printed a few test prints. If you want a complete open-face chain, it's recommended that you print the entire chain as clip-able links and secure the wiring with zip-ties. The clips hold okay, but they can be easily dislodged by applying too much force. If you just need additional links for the standard chain, the regular link works great. You can also use the topless bases with standard links if you've lost or broken one. In addition, when using zip-ties to secure the cabling, it's safest to place the coupler directly over the wiring. Otherwise, there's a risk of snagging the carriage or melamine plates. Update 11/11/2016 - Topless versions have been added to the design. You can secure the cabling using small cable ties in either topless version. The clippable version features a printable clip that snaps onto the wiring for secure attachment. I've printed multiple sets of these links, and I'm confident they'll work well, but I haven't had the chance to install them yet. I thought I'd misplaced the second half of the cable chain during my FT-5 build, so I designed a replacement. Although I ended up not needing it, the new links attach seamlessly to the stock ones and seem to have the same range of motion. Print Settings: Printer: Folger Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Notes: The non-topless versions had to be printed with supports, requiring some cleanup for each link. Other than that, it prints easily without any special settings. The topless versions print fine without supports on both the FT-5 and Folger Prusa i3. White link is PLA printed on a Folger Prusa i3 in 2020, while blue and yellow are PETG printed on an FT-5.
