Folger Tech MK9 Jhead Mount & Fan Shroud
thingiverse
I have completed the part and included a meshmixed version with supports that functioned well for my printer. The entire thing operates fairly well, I just need some accurate length screws to get it down tight and snug. You will require m3x20mm screws for the groovemount, as well as for the hinge, and m3x25mm screws to mount it to the stepper. This part fits under a Folger Tech MK9 (Or possibly MK7) extruder, and allows you to attach a groovemounted hot end. It's a nice step up from the regular hot end, and doesn't require you to buy a new bowden setup, or print yourself a new extruder yet. I would suggest, however, either upgrading the stepper on the MK9, or printing yourself a new extruder. From my experience with the MK9 (with the default stepper), it doesn't extrude smoothly, and leaves marks on the outside of the print. I have changed the hole sizes to fit screws better, as well as added a hinge-mount for a fan shroud, which is also included. 3/15/2016: I have now included an ABL probe that could directly replace the cooling fan on the jhead. Happy printing! Printer Settings: Printer: Voxel Ox Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: .2mm Infill: 20% Notes: Print with the filament feed hole horizontal for best results. A version with support is also provided. Post-Printing: You will most likely need to drill holes for your fan shroud a little bit. I used a 1/8 inch drill bit, and just opened the opening of the hole up a bit. It threads quite well. I also drilled out the holes for the hinge, and just put an M3 screw through it. Since it rests on the fan, it doesn't really need a nut, but if you want to add one it couldn't hurt anything.
