Folger Tech FT-5 fan and autolevel modifications
thingiverse
Simple radial fan mount and inductance probe mount I designed and use on my Folgertech FT-5 printer. The fan is mounted using 3mm x 20mm screws, with a slight boost in clearance achieved by cutting the fan mount holes so that screw heads sit flush with the lower face of the fan. This design attaches the fan mount to the extruder through existing dead space between heat sink and extruder fan. A modified back plate replaces the melamine plate that comes with the kit, adding two slotted holes for inductance probe mounting. Marlin Firmware has been uploaded, requiring a possible adjustment of Z-probe offset in the configuration.h file. This setup utilizes a 50mm radial fan and inductance probe sourced from Amazon: 50mm Radial Fan and Inductance Probe -- NPN NC 4.8V. The air diverter needs to be glued to the fan holder near the nozzle, or else this fan will cool an actively heating nozzle by 50C and trigger thermal runaway settings. Additionally, wrapping my nozzle in pot holder insulation ensures that at 100% fan speed, the nozzle doesn't cool down at all. Print Settings Printer: Printy McPrintface (FT-5) Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3 Infill: 40% or more Notes: For optimal results, print out of PETG or ABS for strength and heat resistance. Post-Printing No post-processing is required; the print is ready to use.
