Folding Propeller Assembly Generator
thingiverse
Fully customizable and printable folding propeller set including a hub and a spinner. This is based on the 'Parametric Folding Propeller Generator' by @BouncyMonkey (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3506762). The polyline code in the spinner comes from https://openhome.cc/eGossip/OpenSCAD/index.html. To use the code, place all SCAD files in the same directory. You'll typically only need to edit the parameter in **Folding_Prop.scad**. Always orient the blades so the holes are perpendicular to the print bed for maximum strength. When printing the hub, apply this rule as well. Print at 5-8degC higher hotend temperature than normal for a small boost in inter-layer adhesion. The 7x4inch tractor propeller is shown as an example. I suggest uncommenting only the feature you want to make (makeHub(); /makeSpinner(); / makeHub();) export as STL and run the render. Cycle through each of them to generate individual parts and export. This is my second design on OpenScad, and I'm happy to take feedback to improve this design. If you'd like me to add STL files for specific prop sizes, just ask and I'll do my best to respond. UPDATE 05/01/2020: Updated files with the V3 hub including printable supports and a square spinner mount which greatly improves print success rate. Testing video at https://youtu.be/r_2c_qXZrNU. UPDATE 05/02/2020: Spinner mount dimensions are now variable, making it useful for creating super light setups with minor bug fixes. DISCLAIMER: Propellers on RC crafts can be hazardous. If you're printing and using this propeller, please use your own judgment and tests for safety.
