The Lame et mitre en Inox alliage 12C27 boasts a Manche en amourette that sets it apart from its neighbor, the Opinel savoyard. Its distinctive flat handle and "pincée" mitre with two cut edges mark its early adoption of a systematic spring mechanism. The Yatagan-style blade features a square heel, typically measuring 19 cm when open, although some versions were offered in alternative lengths. Traditionally crafted from stained white wood or later in palissandre, the handle occasionally featured incrustations of metal decorations such as stars or crescent moons on more affordable models with plastic or embossed metal handles, which were often exported to North Africa. Today, the Alpin is still manufactured at Thiers.
