Thanks to PRIma for sharing his remix of Y_Dascalu's awesome mini pocket knife. I printed PRIma's version, but the parts didn't fit together perfectly, likely due to my printer's precision issues. To fix this problem, I added 0.3mm tolerances to all the connecting parts. This made assembly much easier, although it still requires some force and pliers to get everything in place. The idea behind breaking down the individual part was to make it easy to scale up the design if needed, print multiple colors, or save on filament costs.
