Folding Box

Folding Box

thingiverse

A compact container that folds inward for storing small items, minimizing space usage. The self-holding box seals itself shut due to frictional resistance. Measuring 55mm x 55mm within and 65mm x 70mm x 190mm overall once assembled, the container's dimensions are efficiently designed. A hole in the hinge accommodates a 1.75mm filament pin as a secure pivot point. To keep the pin firmly in place, I employed a riveting technique involving the following steps: - Cut a length of PLA slightly longer than required, leaving about 3mm excess on each side. - Heat a flat metal surface with a lighter (using the head of a nail worked well for me). - Press the heated metal onto the hinge pin until a small disk forms. I found that printing this design vertically produced better results, as it tended to warp when printed horizontally. I suspect my heated bed is not uniformly heated throughout.
