<p>A folding grip for AR-15s; (and other compatible firearms) this design was inspired&nbsp;<br>by the USAF GAU - 5A Aircrew Self Defense Weapon, specifically in that it uses&nbsp;<br>the FAB Defense AGF-43S grip. With the grip folded back, a compatible weapon can<br>be less troublesome to stow away into a pack for transportation. There's storage<br>in the grip for small batteries, a couple rounds of 5.56 NATO, or hell... even&nbsp;<br>some skittles when you're hungry between target training courses.</p><p>The latching mechanism was designed to be more suited for 3D printing. The leaf&nbsp;<br>spring and latch are printed as one piece. One the spring is printed and installed,<br>it should lock closed once the bottom grip half is deployed. To disengage the lock,<br>simply press a 5.56 case (or similarly sized tool) through the front port on the grip,<br>and rotate the grip rearwards 90°.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Hardware Needed:</p><p>1x Allen Head Screw, 1/4-28 x 1"</p><p>1x Steel Star Washer</p><p>1x Safety Selector Detent Pin</p><p>1x Safety Selector Detent Spring</p><p>1x M5x12mm (or M5x15mm) Hex Set Screw</p><p><br>Installation:</p><p>1) Before installing the leaf spring, sand the front and back bottom faces, specifically<br>&nbsp; where it fits into the grip's spring insert socket.</p><p>2) Press the spring into the socket. It most likely will be tight, so you'll want to use a&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; hammer to drive it in.</p><p>3) Check that the top grip locks in place, with no gap between either grip half. (before&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; installing the screw between the hinge points) If the grip halves wont close, the spring<br>&nbsp; most likely still needs to be driven into it's socket further.</p><p>4) Once locking is positive between both grip halves, install the screw; be sure it engages all&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; three hinge points.</p><p>5) Install the grip onto the compatible weapon. Be sure to function test before use.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h3>Print instructions</h3><p>Print Settings:</p><p>Extruder: 204C&nbsp;<br>Bed: 56C&nbsp;<br>First Layer Print Height: .20mm&nbsp;<br>Standard Layer Height: .14mm<br>Wall Thickness: .40&nbsp;<br>Wall Perimeters: 4 (6 perimeters for the spring/latch)<br>Infill: 20%<br>Infill Pattern: Gyroid<br>Material Flow: 100%<br>Support Material Percentage: 18% (Only needed for the top grip half's latching point)</p><p>Print the top grip half upside-down<br><br>______________________________________________________________________________<br><br>V1.1 Update:<br><br>Information given by "infinitesignal" of AWCY? (3DP Firearms Development Team) suggested that the length of the spring was too short, given that they had to lengthen it slightly to get it to seat in it's socket and latch the grip closed properly.</p><p>Due to every printer having a slightly different printing calibration, as well as the different<br>manufacture settings users implement, an additional four spring lengths have been added to&nbsp;<br>compensate for variations. Along with the base spring length design, each additional file has the spring lengthened by .2mm, up to .8mm.</p><p>The different springs are contained in a separate folder, and each spring length is housed within a subfolder.<br>&nbsp;</p>
