Folded lamp shade spotlight for GU 5.3 bulb
thingiverse
This is a remake of the Folded Lamp shade I which found here on Thingiverse and loved it, but wanted to tweak it a little bit for my own needs. I've split the model in two parts: - The actual shade - A cover with pre-drilled holes for standard GU 5.3 connectors. This cover includes holes to allow hot air to escape Non-printable parts needed: - Two M2x10mm bolts to hold the adapter in place - Two 2mm screws to hold the two pieces together - One GU 5.3 connector - Three millimeter wire I've used the following print settings with good results: - PLA at 215/210 degrees, 65/60 degrees bed temperature - Layer height 2.5 millimeters - Infill: Zero percent up until the screw mounts, twenty percent honeycomb above that (if your slicer doesn't allow you to select different settings for different regions, I have used five percent rectilinear for the whole print with good results. Twenty percent honeycomb for the top cover) - One Outline/perimeter shells - the part doesn't need any structural rigidity. Plus, using less material helps making the shade translucent I have also found it tricky to align the prongs with the connector so I designed a little tool to help push the bulb in/out - also included in the files. I have used this design successfully with seven watt GU5.3 twelve volt bulbs. I suggest you don't try to use regular incandescent bulbs because the heat would most likely cause the part to melt or even worse, catch fire. UPDATE 21/02/2018 - Modified the top cover a bit to give some extra room for the wires - Changed recommended print settings
