Folded 3D Printed Face Shield Head Band (nih.gov:3dpx-013881)
thingiverse
This version of the 3dpx-013306 by 3DVerkstan is a revised design by BrotherRobot (Calramon Mabalot) that makes this clinically proven device 3D printable on much smaller 3D printers with build plates as small as 150mm x 150mm. It uses flexible sections of 1mm material that are highly durable under wear and overextending. This version is also compact enough to print two (2) units at a time in the same space needed for one original unit. There is a shortage of protective gear for doctors and nurses, so 3DVerkstan designed a frame for holding standard-sized plastic sheets that can be printed quickly and assembled easily. Using readily available plastic sheets with minimal modification and common tools, this design features all printable components with nozzle sizes up to 1mm and layer heights up to 0.5mm. It includes drip protection above the eyes and prints in less than 25 minutes*. The design works well with most common materials (PLA, CPE, PETG, ABS etc.) without requiring tight tolerances or well-tuned printers**. The original visor 3dpx-013306 is tested and approved by staff worldwide, but medical supply regulations vary. Please follow authority guidelines applicable in your region. This model has not yet been reviewed by Columbia University Medical Center/New York-Presbyterian Hospital staff, but a submission for review is pending. More information about the original design can be found on 3DVerkstan's website: https://3dverkstan.se/protective-visor/. Further details on this revised design will be available on BrotherRobot's website: http://www.brotherrobot.com/medical.
