Foldable Thermal and Sound Enclosure for 3D Printer
cults3d
Having my printer in my office and doing telecommuting, I wanted to reduce a bit the noise generated by my 3D printer as well as thermally isolate it to increase the ambient temperature during my prints for a better rendering and for some materials (ABS, TPE, PC...). After some research on the internet, I quickly realized that my research did not exist for sale. I only found thermal boxes in very thin insulating cotton that did not change anything to the noise. Another important detail, I wanted a foldable box to be able to store it easily without it taking up too much space. So I decided to create my own thermal and sound enclosure for my 3D printer. After several weeks of design and a first fully functional version, I propose here the improved version of the thermal and phonic box. This one is composed of a set of wood board, wood cleat + PLA printed parts. It is intended to be installed against a wall corner. I designed it for the ENDER 3 printer (with the coil inside) The Ender 3 can go both across and down the box without limiting the maximum travel of the platen and nozzle. External dimensions with handle: 58x58x78 cm External dimensions without handle: 58x58x72 cm Interior dimensions: 54x54x68 cm (useful volume to position the printer) During my tests, I went up to more than 31° without any problem in the casing for an outside casing temperature of 23°. In a 30 minute print time with a 200° nozzle and a 50° platen. During the same test, I was able to reduce the noise of the printer by almost 10dB* (This is really appreciable, for info I do telecommuting at 3m from my printer without any discomfort) For the purchase of this KIT, you will have: A complete and detailed technical file of 17 pages describing precisely the dimensions and assembly of it. A file with all the pictures I took during the realization of this box. A detailed table of the elements to buy with the prices And of course the STL files of the 9 different parts to print to complete this project. All STLs are to be printed directly in their position when opening in CURA or other cutting software. Discover another of my creations [creation box-for-screen-9-estink]
