Foldable Respirator

Foldable Respirator

Hello, this is my design of respirator that can be easily printable and uses less material. It's meant to be disposable due to the rough surface created by FDM printing, so I don't recommend using the mask more than once if you can't properly wash it. The filters are designed to be used once then safely thrown away. This design is printed flat, requiring you to bend it and sew it together. You can add 3M textile tape over the holes from inside or outside. My design was inspired by opensourcemask.com. The filter I've created is based on a Cambridge study that shows ~95% filtration, with 100% cotton material used for the pad. Cotton pads are also included, as well as kitchen towel (if you have a surgical face mask, you can use it instead of kitchen towel). You can find more information about this research in the study I've referenced at https://www.researchgate.net/publication/258525804_Testing_the_Efficacy_of_Homemade_Masks_Would_They_Protect_in_an_Influenza_Pandemic?fbclid=IwAR1xIeeYVkRIO-Z8gtqNrN9Pzq4kqcYq9c04O8uYXotGx68EtnikYaMd1Tc. If the mask hurts your nose, you can add padding around it with (if you don't have any padding material, you can use cotton covered by tape). If the mask doesn't fit your face, simply put it under 70°C water, then pull it out and press it gently against your face to form it. Join me in the #FaceCoveringChallenge
