Foldable Door Opener
thingiverse
I got the idea from a Thingiverse design, but it wasn't very user-friendly. To open a door handle, your hand needed to be below the handle to pull downwards. So I added a second hole so you can slip in two fingers and add your thumb to push from above. This makes opening the door much more comfortable. Since this made the device a bit bulky, I added a hinge so it can fold up. Folded, it's roughly the same size as the original model. Plus, the area where you touched the door handle is now enclosed in the opener, and you're less likely to accidentally touch it. The model is rounded for a nicer feel but has a slightly reduced adherence area. If you get warping problems, you might need to increase the adherence settings. The STL file includes support, and it's designed to be printed with 0.2mm layer height and a 0.4mm nozzle (smaller sizes will also work). Your printer should be able to print precise measurements. Make sure to enable "thin wall detection" in your slicer, as the support is only 0.4mm thick in the model. See the slicer image for parts that need attention. Any non-flexible material should work well, and I tested it with PLA.
