Foldable Cube - Print Flat
thingiverse
This 30mm Foldable Cube is printed flat and then folded into shape, ensuring smooth sides and perfect dimensions. To create a permanent structure, glue or tape it together while using rubber bands to hold the design in place until the adhesive dries. Print with or without infill, preferably using PLA. The initial purpose was to construct a cube with consistent, flat faces for storage or transportation purposes. Students can utilize this foldable cube to explore platonic solids or create a small light by adding an LED. However, the designer hopes to increase the number of folds before it breaks, as current edges are 0.2mm thick. For optimal printing on a Makerbot Replicator 2, rotate the print so infill lines are perpendicular to the folds, avoiding cracks. Slic3r users report success with a concentric fill pattern. This creative design was made possible by DesignMakeTeach.com using FreeCAD.
