Foldable Clothes Hanger
grabcad
After much frustration with coat hangers that either didnt fit into my shirts collars, stretched them out, flung all over the place after taking a shirt off, or some sort of combination of those, I decided to take action. I had several iterations of this design, some with overcenter locks, springs, magnets, but they proved to be more complex than I would have liked. This simple locking mechanism is shown to be effective, simple, and easy to mass produce. This design allows you to easily take your clothes off a hanger, without stretching or damaging the collar. Additionally, the folding portion allows for easy storage and transportation, folding into just 2" wide, it takes up considerably less space than traditional hangers. With some more modifications this concept can be used to hang pants, ties, and many other garments much easier. Here are some animations and IRL videos showcasing how well it works:https://youtu.be/5VVw8WcSwGQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3LKCbqcumshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R5Je2qbflUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3nZl74QdiAThis design was made in SOLIDWORKS 2018, my preffered CAD program. All parts can be printed in one set within the 4.75"^3 build space requirement. The hanger in the videos and pictures were printed on a Prusa MKIII (FDM), with the following settings:1.75mm PLA0.3mm Layer Height25% Infill2 WallsSupport EnabledNo Build Plate Adhesion65mm/s These parts can be printed with any printing methods, FDM is just the most readily availible. I submit this entry as a student under Mr. Batterink from King's Christian Collegiate.
