Foldable Chessboard
thingiverse
Hello there, I found a nice chess set, but no foldable board. So I made my own. The chess set was made by BigBadBison, check that out here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:470700 I scaled the pieces down slightly, so the pawn has a diameter of 24 mm and all other pieces 28 mm. The pawn also no longer has a flat top. The board consists of: - 2 left frame pieces - 2 right frame pieces - 32 white tiles (39.9 x 39.9 mm) - 32 black tiles (39.9 x 39.9 mm) - 2 hinges - 4 hinge pins - 1 hook lock - 2 lock pins Most pieces fit nicely together. However you might have to trim the hinge pins, as not all of the print support might come out of the holes. I used hard plastic glue to glue everything together. Some advice: - Print the board frame with the top facing up. This might use more print support, but the top surface will be much smoother. This will make applying the tiles so much easier. - Print the chess pieces without support, its not necessary. - Print multiple tiles at the same time.
